Coconino County, Arizona — September 8, 2012

A Navajo Nation man from Leupp was found dead after apparently being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident Saturday night in Flagstaff.

The Arizona State Police report Tee Yazzie, 22, died at the scene of the apparent accident, which occurred on westbound Interstate 40 near the overpass at Fourth Street. Authorities believe he was struck around 8 p.m., possibly by a semi, and the driver might not have realized the accident occurred.

In the United States on average four people die a day as a result of hit-and-run collisions according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
